I designed this book to make cosmetic ingredient labels easier to understand by focusing on one ingredient: synthetic mica. The book explores what synthetic mica is, where it appears, how it is labeled, and how ingredient labeling systems could become more accessible. I created it because cosmetic labels are designed for regulation rather than readability, often relying on scientific terminology and long ingredient lists that make it difficult for everyday consumers to understand what products contain or what those ingredients do.
